General

  • How long are lessons?
    • Individual Lessons are 45 minutes long. Group classes are typically 60-90 minutes. Recitals are typically 45-75 minutes.
  • We know we won't be available/don't want to participate in an event listed on the calendar. Can we get a tuition refund or adjustment?
    • No, we do not give tuition adjustments as many of our costs are fixed at the beginning of the year. Families wishing to create their own schedule should consider purchasing single lessons at the a la carte rate.

Recitals

  • Where are recitals held?
    • All recitals are held at Steinway Gallery of Spokane.
  • Are recordings available?
    • Yes. Medium-quality recital recordings and photos are made available to families about 1-2 weeks after the recital.
  • Can I attend online?
    • Yes. All recitals are livestreamed on Zoom for invited guests only. This also means we get a recording of the Zoom broadcast once it ends (see above).
  • What is the dress code?
    • Dress varies by recital (Halloween, for example, encourages costumes) and will be communicated prior to each recital.
  • Can friends/family attend the recital?
    • Yes. All are welcome. If you plan to invite more than 2 additional persons, please let us know so we can ensure the recital hall has enough seating.
  • I/my child is anxious about performing/doesn't want to play/had a bad recital experience, etc...do they still have to play?
    • Yes. Every student is expected to perform on all recitals. We go out of our way to make recitals fun and approachable, and we will help you develop the confidence to have a great first recital! (Advanced students sometimes perform at other venues more suited to their specialization—we will let you know about those, too.)

Health & Safety

  • Do you have a mask policy?
    • Yes. Facemasks covering nose and mouth are required in the studio. There are no exceptions to this policy.
  • Why do you still have a mask policy?
    • We prefer in-person instruction and events. Wearing facemasks correctly and practicing good hand hygiene are the two of the easiest & most effective ways to make sure everyone stays healthy so we can continue providing face-to-face instruction.
  • I can't/won't/don't want to wear a mask. What are my options?
    • We are happy to teach you via Zoom. Otherwise, you will need to seek another instructor.
  • Do you require vaccines?
    • No.
  • Are you vaccinated?
    • Yes. All staff receive vaccines and boosters as soon as they are eligible.
  • Why is my child asked to wash their hands every lesson?
    • The studio serves 25-30 students each week. This creates great potential for germ transmission. Washing also keeps hand grime off the instruments, and who doesn't want a clean, well-functioning piano?
