Peak Piano Studios Fall Quarter 2025
Lesson Policies
Welcome to Peak Piano Studios! By scheduling a time slot, you are committing to music instruction for Fall Quarter 2025. Even if you are out of town or unavailable for one of your lessons, you are still responsible for payment in full. Makeup lessons are only offered if Peak Piano Studios must cancel or reschedule a lesson, in which case we will give you as much advance notice as possible. (Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.)
By registering for Fall Quarter 2025, you agree that you understand and will follow the policies outlined in this document.
Lesson Info
Lessons are 30 minutes of instruction and are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You will register for a slot, which represents 30 minutes of instruction on the same day/time combination each week of instruction. Additional openings may be offered depending on your availability, or for makeups offered by Peak Piano Studios.
How to Reach Us
Please get hold of us via Google Chat. Keeping all exchanges in the same app helps us stay organized. You will receive an invite to the Peak Piano Studios/Spokane Jazz Piano Academy Google Chat group[s]. Make sure to download the free Google Chat app to your phone so you can get notifications.
Attendance
Makeup lessons are only offered if Peak Piano Studios must cancel or reschedule a lesson, in which case we will give you as much advance notice as possible. (Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis; see “Exceptions” below.)
If you know you will miss a lesson, we invite you to swap lessons with another family ahead of time and inform us of the change. You will receive a list of other families’ contact information. You agree to share your contact information with other families in Peak Piano Studios for the purpose of arranging lesson swaps. You must not share others’ contact information unless you receive their permission.
You will not be penalized for missing a lesson or event, but we hope you will attend regularly & as much as possible. All monies received by Peak Piano Studios are non-refundable. No tuition refunds or adjustments will be issued for lessons missed on the part of the student. This includes arriving more than 5 minutes late to a lesson without prior communication.
Sick & Inclement Weather Policy
If you are sick or roads are unsafe, we will hold your lesson online via Zoom at the normal time. (Please let us know beforehand.) The Zoom address is https://ewu.zoom.us/j/5763009505.
Illness: If you are too sick for school, you are too sick for lessons. If you display signs of illness (cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat, etc.) do not come to your lesson. We will hold your lesson online via Zoom at your normal lesson time. The Zoom address is https://ewu.zoom.us/j/5763009505. Students who display signs of illness will be dismissed for the day.
Tardiness: You are not penalized for tardiness, but lessons will end as scheduled, and you will not receive any adjustment or refund of tuition. It is your responsibility, not ours, to contact us with any scheduling questions after the start of Fall Quarter 2025.
Facemasks: You do not need to wear a mask unless we ask you to, but once asked, you must wear one. Students who refuse will be dismissed for the day.
Instructor Illness: Lessons missed due to instructor illness will be made up whenever possible. Fall Quarter 2025 includes 2 paid instructor sick days. We have never used sick days, but we reserve the right per this policy.
In-Person or Online Lessons
You have the option to attend lessons in-person at Peak Piano Studios, 1309 W 14th Ave Spokane 99204, or online. Peak Piano Studios reserves the right to convert in-person lessons to online lessons at its discretion, for such reasons as:
- failure of student/family to abide by In-Person Lesson Policy
- infectious disease outbreak
- natural disaster (incl. wildfires)
- federal or regional health authorities prohibit or recommend against in-person meetings
- personal illness or emergency
Tuition & Payment
Please contact us for current tuition rates. Upon registering, you will be invoiced for a deposit that includes the first month of lessons. You may enroll in autopay at no cost to you. If you choose not to enroll in autopay, you will receive monthly invoices via email. Payment may be made online via Stripe or by personal cheque. All payments received are non-refundable. Accounts overdue for more than 3 weeks will be subject to collection by IC Systems.
Materials
We will suggest age- and level-appropriate materials for you. Purchase materials from Amend Music whenever possible; their friendly staff can order anything you do not see in-store.
Popular Music: Please allow us to consult with you regarding the purchase of additional songbooks so we can ensure you get the correct music for your student—popular arrangements are often published in multiple difficulty levels. Many jazz/popular/Disney/movie/videogame/etc. pieces are available for single download online at a reduced cost, typically around $5.
Media & Permissions
By signing up for lessons, you hereby consent to and authorize Peak Piano Studios to capture and use audio/video recordings and photographic images of yourself or your child and/or your own or your child's musical performance or quoted statements in print, electronic, or online media, for educational and studio promotional purposes only and without any compensation to you or your child. You further agree to waive and release any and all claims you may have against Peak Piano Studios relating to the use of these recordings, images, or statements. This consent is binding upon heirs and future legal representatives.
Recitals and Events:
At Peak Piano Studios, we focus on the FUN of performing pieces you love. During Academic Year 2025-26, we are planning:

Expectations:
Peak Piano Studios is a member of Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA) and its parent organization Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). We adhere to the MTNA code of ethics which states:
“The teacher shall conduct the relationship with students and families in a professional manner.
We expect you:
Practice expectations vary based on the age and level of the student. Ensure the practice area is free from distractions and is available every day. Access practicing tips at www.peakpiano.net.
Students may not eat or drink in the studio.
Termination & Transfer
Lessons may be terminated at the discretion of Peak Piano Studios for any reason, including lack of practice, behavioral problems, frequent absences, delinquency in payment, or failure to abide by studio policy. No refunds will be given. You will be issued multiple warnings before termination. We have never needed to terminate anyone, but we reserve the right per this policy.
Exceptions
Peak Piano Studios reserves the right to make exceptions to this policy on a case-by-case basis. Any exceptions are made with the understanding that they are one-time-only and will not modify the agreements laid out in the Fall Quarter 2025 Policies.
